One-one draws continue to pile up in Group A.
In the most enjoyable fixture at the Africa Cup of Nations so far, Gabon and Burkina Faso played out a 1-1 draw Wednesday, leaving the future of the Panthers and the Stallions clouded by uncertainty as both national teams sit on two points through two matches.
Gabon could have exited Stade de l’Amitie with three points had it not been for some phenomenal goalkeeping from Herve Kouakou Koffi, who produced a brilliant save in the 81st minute, denying Denis Bouanga from point-blank range by using his left foot to deflect the ball over the crossbar. But Burkina Faso was the better team for chunks of the game and deservedly took the lead in the 22nd minute, when Prejuce Nakoulma opened the scoring as a substitute.

It didn’t take Gabon long to equalise, however. After Koffi came off his line and was outpaced by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Gabonese forward sent the Burkinabe ‘keeper the wrong way from the penalty spot.
All three Group A games have ended 1-1, meaning Gabon and Burkina Faso are level on goal differential as well as points.
