Brighton player 'OK' after testing positive for COVID-19 virus

Brighton and Hove Albion chief executive Paul Barber confirmed Thursday that one of the club’s first-team players tested positive for the coronavirus.

The unidentified footballer is one of three Brighton players who were tested. The other two results were negative.

Barber told reporters during a video conference that the individual is “OK” and “getting the care he needs,” according to BBC Sport.

It was announced last week that football in England will be postponed until at least April 30.

Meanwhile, the unknown Brighton player is the latest member of the Premier League to contract the virus.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi tested positive in the days leading up to the suspension of the season. Both have since recovered.
