Liverpool, Chelsea secure Champions League places at Leicester's expense

Leicester City have missed out on a Champions League berth on the final day of a Premier League season in back-to-back campaigns after losing 4-2 to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The Foxes were on course for a fourth-placed finish midway through the second half when they led 2-1 and Chelsea were 2-0 down at Aston Villa in their concurrent fixture, but a Kasper Schmeichel own goal and Gareth Bale brace turned the tide in the East Midlands.

Chelsea eventually lost 2-1 at Villa Park.

Liverpool, meanwhile, had a comfortable afternoon at Anfield as they saw out a rather tame 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace and finished a difficult season in third place.

More to come.
