Monaco boss Henry confirms interest in Batshuayi

AS Monaco manager Thierry Henry is open to the possibility of working with Michy Batshuayi again, as the Chelsea-owned striker is set to become available following the impending end to his loan spell at Valencia.

Els Taronges confirmed that they are in the process of negotiating the center-forward’s exit, with a report Thursday suggesting that Everton will make a push to sign Batshuayi.

However, the Toffees could face stiff competition from Monaco after Henry admitted his interest in Batshuayi. The French legend worked with the 25-year-old during his time as Belgium’s assistant manager.

“Michy? I know him, we rubbed shoulders with Belgium, he is a player who can be interesting,” Henry said, according to Sky Sports.

“But again, nothing is done. You have to be patient. It’s important that players know the championship, though.”

Monaco are believed to be in the process of completing a deal to sign Cesc Fabregas from Chelsea, as the Ligue 1 side attempts to climb out of a relegation battle.

They could soon reunite Fabregas with his former Chelsea teammate if they can reach a deal to sign Batshuayi on loan until the end of the season.

Although Everton have reportedly expressed an interest in Batshuayi, the Premier League side would have to sign him or Kurt Zouma, who is on loan with the Toffees, permanently in order to facilitate a deal.

Monaco also appears to have the inside track on Everton, considering that the team’s sporting director, Michael Emenalo, played a significant role in recruiting Batshuayi when he was Chelsea’s technical director.

This season, Batshuayi has only managed to score three times in 23 matches for Valencia in all competitions.
