Raiola says Pogba wants Juventus return: 'Italy is like home for Paul'

The summer transfer saga involving Paul Pogba has already begun.

Mino Raiola, the outspoken agent of the French midfielder, said his client would “like to come back to Juventus” and described Italy as being “like home” for Pogba, according to quotes tweeted by Fabrizio Romano.

The representative suggested the possibility of Pogba heading back to Juventus would be explored after Euro 2020 but admitted it would be tricky to negotiate an exit from Manchester United if they’re “in a difficult situation.”

Pogba’s contract at Old Trafford runs until June 2021.

Raiola spoke after Juventus’ 1-1 Coppa Italia draw at AC Milan. His words subsequently filtered onto social media via Filippo Conticello’s story in La Gazzetta dello Sport and Romano, who provides transfer news for Sky Sport and The Guardian.

Raiola discussed Pogba’s future in January, saying he expects his “players to be happy” and that it’s his job to resolve the situation if they aren’t.

Pogba, who turns 27 next month, has started only five Premier League matches this season due to a persistent ankle problem and an illness. His repeated absences from the first-team fold have fueled speculation that he is again seeking a transfer.

Last summer, the World Cup winner expressed a desire to pursue “a new challenge somewhere else” and Raiola stated on numerous occasions he was trying to broker a move for Pogba.
