Promising young Arsenal and United States midfielder Gedion Zelalem is close to securing a loan move.
The 19-year-old, who has not appeared in a Premier League match for the north London team this season, was previously linked with a permanent transfer to Borussia Dortmund before the Bundesliga outfit ended its pursuit.
Now it appears that Zelalem will see out the remainder of the season in the Netherlands as Arsenal negotiates a loan deal with VVV Venlo, sources revealed to Peter O’Rourke of ESPNFC
Dutch outlet Telesport reports that Zelalem – who spent last season on loan with Scottish outfit Rangers – could complete his move to the Dutch second division as early as Tuesday.
Although playing time has been hard to come by in north London, Zelalem has a chance to play a prominent role for VVV Venlo.
His impact could be similar to his time in Glasgow when he appeared in 29 matches – including a spot in the starting XI during of the Scottish Cup final against Hibernian – and helped Rangers win promotion into the Premiership.
