Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore has attracted renewed interest from Premier League champion Chelsea.
After initially inquiring about the 20-year-old’s availability in January, Traore has once again become one of manager Antonio Conte’s top targets, according to Simon Johnson of the Evening Standard.
However, reaching an agreement over a fee could be a difficult obstacle to overcome as Chelsea is believed to be unwilling to meet Middlesbrough’s £20-million asking price.
Middlesbrough’s reluctance to part ways with Traore is another stumbling block, as the club has allegedly made it known to interested suitors, such as West Ham, that the Spanish international is not for sale.
It’s understood that Traore will be relied upon heavily during Middlesbrough’s return to the Championship this season as the club attempts to win promotion back into the top flight.
Traore – who has three years remaining on his contract – made 27 Premier League appearances last season.
