Bayern Munich claim Bundesliga title for 9th consecutive season

Bayern Munich didn’t even have to take the pitch to clinch their latest Bundesliga crown.

The Bavarian giants were confirmed as German champions for a record-extending ninth consecutive time on Saturday, as RB Leipzig, the last remaining title challenger this season, saw their slim hopes officially extinguished in a dramatic 3-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund.

The result means Hansi Flick’s team, which hosts Borussia Monchengladbach later in the day, now has an unassailable seven-point lead atop the table with two weeks remaining in the campaign.

More to come.
